Full-Time Program Coordinator Position

You will work closely with our team and the youth through coordination, engagement, and the design and implementation of youth-focused programs, helping to create a welcoming and rewarding environment committed to their long-term success.
Organization Description:
City Youth Now (CYN) provides education, employment, and extracurricular support to youth with experience in San Francisco’s foster care and juvenile justice systems. We offer youth paid internships, professional development workshops, scholarships, college tours, and grants for essential needs and extracurricular activities. Our programming inside Juvenile Hall includes academic tutoring, college visits, musical performances, and more.
Our team consists of a full-time Executive Director, a full-time Program Coordinator, a full-time Youth Services Coordinator, a part-time Bookkeeper, and a part-time Grant Writer. We collaborate with volunteers including board members, interns, and community partners. We’re a small but mighty team dedicated to equity, youth voice, and opportunity.
Position Overview:
The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and ensuring the continued success and growth of our three core programs, the Personal Empowerment Program (PEP), the Youth Partnering for Education and Employment Program (YPEE), and the Inside Out Program. This role also supports the organization by implementation of other services, activities, and events of City Youth Now, including communication and outreach, data collection and analysis, and engagement to strengthen program impact.
This position reports to the Executive Director and works in close collaboration with the Youth Services Coordinator.
With three full-time staff members, this role requires someone who is organized, people-centered, and proactive; capable of wearing many hats and contributing to both the program operations and resource coordination. Candidates who are organized, creative, and decisive, and who can work both independently and in a team are a plus.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Management
- Work in collaboration with the Youth Services Coordinator in regard to the Internship Program and Readiness Skills Academy, including curriculum development and outreach
- Manage the intake, review, and processing of youth microgrant applications, ensuring timely distribution of resources that address individualized youths’ needs
- Develop new initiatives within each program to expand our services, such as a Nutrition Program or College Panel development.
- Create and maintain relationships with partners and community members including social workers, Juvenile Hall staff, non-profit organizations, etc.
- Coordinate annual holiday gift giveaway for 380+ youth and plan annual holiday party
- Keep track of data of youth enrolled in CYN programs
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Database Maintenance and Reporting
- Help maintain organization of the office and programs
- Collect and maintain records and databases on clients participating in programs for statistical purposes according to the confidentiality/privacy policy of the organization
- Report evaluation findings to management and recommend changes to enhance programs
Communications and Strategies
- Create and update forms, newsletters, and other organizational communications materials
- Communicate with clients and other stakeholders about programs and solicit input to improve services
Events and Fundraising
- Assist in the planning and coordination of fundraising activities
- Assist in the execution of events for youth, such as our annual holiday party for youth on probation, and visits from animals and musical performers inside of Juvenile Hall
Fundraising and Development
- Collaborate with Executive Director to collect youth programming data for grant application submissions and reports
- Keep track of both in-kind and monetary donations and engage with previous donors
- Organize small fundraising events
Volunteer Management
- Recruit, train, and supervise office volunteers/interns
- Coordinate with Juvenile Hall staff, Woodside Learning Center teachers, and CCSF staff to match detained students with Juvenile Hall volunteers
- Serve as the CYN liaison with partner universities that provide student interns
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in sociology, social work, education, ethnic studies, criminal justice, child/adolescent development, psychology, or related subjects or 3 or more years of youth program experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- At least 2-3 years of post-college work experience, especially in case management, education, youth development, and non-profit work (those with less experience are also welcomed to apply)
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and follow through on multiple tasks/ projects.
- Open to occasionally working during evenings or weekends to attend board meetings, fundraisers, or youth events
- Must pass a LiveScan fingerprint background test
Preferred Skills
- Passion for a knowledge of working with diverse communities and a critical understanding of systemic inequalities
- Experience engaging with adolescents and young adults highly desired
- Experience in the field of education (teaching, tutoring, curriculum design, etc.) or case management
- Bi-lingual Proficiency
- Familiarity with Salesforce, Excel, Canva, WordPress, and other social media/marketing tools
- Event planning experience a plus
- Experience in research and data management a plus
Physical Demands
- Must be able to work at a desk 90% of the time
- Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery
- Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- May require occasional lifting of boxes and materials up to 50 pounds for event needs

Compensation and Benefits:
Total compensation for this position is $27-28.50 per hour, including medical, dental, vision and professional development benefits.
