Imagine that you are one of the 50% of youth in the foster care system who fulfills the requirement to graduate from high school. Now imagine that, despite beating the odds, you don't have the financial means or support to celebrate this milestone. While your classmates are preparing to take steps to live independently, you have already been on your own for years and struggling to make ends meet.
High school graduation is an exciting moment in any child's life—one that truly deserves a little pomp and circumstance. Unfortunately, most of the youth we serve cannot afford a dress or tuxedo for their senior prom or the cap and gown for graduation.
City Youth Now believes that every youth deserves to enjoy the special moments that mark one's childhood. City Youth Now supports youth up to $300 per fiscal year to support those high school seniors in the foster care and juvenile probation systems who have successfully completed the steps to graduate from high school. This support provides funding for school pictures, class rings, yearbooks, caps and gowns, senior trips or prom expenses.
