Emergency Clothing

Clothing is not only a necessity, but it can enable a child to feel confident and comfortable. For many of the children we serve, it is simply too embarrassing to go to school without a decent set of clothes—or with clothes that do not fit—or with the same clothes everyday. Clothing is not only a necessity for growing children, but it is often the only thing that can help them feel better about themselves.

City Youth Now supports these children by providing them with emergency clothing when they are pulled from their homes and taken to the Child Protection Shelter or moved into a new home placement. We also provide emergency clothing to youth being released from juvenile hall with nothing but the clothes they were detained in, which often no longer fit them properly.

City Youth Now provides $100 in clothing gift cards to the Gap and Old Navy stores per year to youth in the foster care and juvenile justice systems.

The fire destroyed most of my house and all of my room. Most of my clothes were destroyed. Thanks a lot for the gift certificates. They will really help me recover from the losses. Pablo, Foster Youth, Age 12
