SAN FRANCISCO, CA—August 17, 2009—On Saturday, December 5th, City Youth Now and Men's Associated Exchange will be hosting the 54th Green Room Party at seven o'clock in the evening at the War Memorial Building at 401 Van Ness. The annual holiday fundraiser raises necessary funds to provide over 2,000 wrapped holiday gifts to youth in San Francisco's foster care and juvenile justice systems targeting youth ages 10 to 19. Attendees will have the opportunity to dine on fine food by Delicious, Inc., dance until midnight to an array of live and DJ entertainment and enter to win several raffle prizes.
What has come to be known as the Green Room Holiday Party had its genesis 54 years ago when two local businessmen first hosted a Christmas Party for their large network friends, colleagues, and partners. The concept of the party was simple: to collect gifts and dollar donations from their friends who, for the most part, did not have children to benefit the children of San Francisco who were without parental support during the holidays. Since that first party in 1955, the event has grown to become one of San Francisco's most anticipated holiday gatherings! Everyone is welcome; every friend of every friend is invited to participate in this long and cherished San Francisco tradition!
All proceeds from the event will go directly to City Youth Now and benefit children in the San Francisco juvenile court system. City Youth Now supports youth in the San Francisco foster care and juvenile justice systems by providing funds for services and programs that promote stability and personal growth. City Youth Now bridges the gap for San Francisco youth in crisis.
