PRESS RELEASE: City Youth Now's 59th Annual Celebration Dinner & Silent Auction

SAN FRANCISCO, CA—February 13, 2009—On Friday, March 20th, 2009, City Youth Now will be hosting the 59th Annual Celebration Dinner and Silent Auction at six o'clock in the evening at the Westin St. Francis in Union Square. The annual silent auction and raffle drawing raises the necessary funds to support youth in San Francisco's foster care and juvenile justice systems. Attendees will have the opportunity to dine on fine food, enjoy an array of music and bid on auction items donated by Bay Area organizations and individuals.

City Youth Now supports youth in the San Francisco foster care and juvenile justice systems by providing funds for services and programs that promote stability and personal growth. City Youth Now bridges the gap for San Francisco youth in crisis.

This year City Youth Now will honor three outstanding members of the community, all of who are committed to improving the welfare of youth in the San Francisco Juvenile Court System. With over 8 decades of service collectively, Deputy District Attorney Walter Aldridge, Deputy Public Defender Patty Lee, and Independent Living Skills Program Coordinator Arlene Hylton, who have each made a significant contribution to the community.

"Their contributions to youth in the San Francisco community at large are invaluable, said Laura Ward, President of City Youth Now. It is with great admiration and respect, that we honor these stand up individuals at the 59th Annual Celebration Dinner and Silent Auction."

City Youth Now will also bestow The Jesse E. Williams III Memorial Scholarship to an outstanding youth in the juvenile probation system as well as The Emancipating to Real Freedom Scholarship to an outstanding youth in the foster care system.

At the event, City Youth Now will toast former board president and active member since 1985, Anne DeVincenzi Dito who passed away in October 2008. A fund has been established in her honor.
