INDIVIDUAL GRANTS Laptop Computers

In the technological age in which we live, a computer is no longer optional when it comes to academic success—it is mandatory. Every year, City Youth Now receives numerous requests for new or used laptop for youth who are beating the odds to continue their education. Only 38% of them will continue their education beyond high school or completion of their GED. With the odds stacked so high against them, City Youth Now is committed to providing funds and services to help these youth have a smoother, more successful transition to adulthood.
In prior years, we have had to turn down hundreds of these requests from the foster care and juvenile justice systems due to the high cost of obtaining individual computers. With our new partnership with Redemtech and Tech Connect and a generous grant from The John Burton Foundation, City Youth Now will be able to fulfill these requests and give these youth an important tool to point them towards success.
Applications for the laptop program may be submitted on behalf of the youth by a probation officer, social worker, CASA, attorney, or other adult authorized by the court to provide services to youth through Arlene Hylton at ILSP. Note that requests are not accepted directly from youth or their caregivers.

Sean, age 18, was embarrassed to smile in public because he had
a rotten front tooth. Thanks to Dr. Richard Hoedt Jr., who is willing
to donate his time and services, Sean now flashes those pearly whites
whenever he gets a chance. (He also tells us he has started brushing
twice everyday.)
Thank you Dr. Hoedt!
