2017 Scholarship Award Ceremony

On Friday, April 21st, City Youth Now held a Scholarship Award Ceremony in the Koret Auditorium of the SF Public Library to honor this year’s amazing winners. Selected among a pool of very competitive applicants, we are so proud to announce the follow grantees and scholars:

  • The Sari Wade Memorial Scholarship: Treshawn
  • The Jesse Williams III Memorial Scholarship: James
  • The Joan Coyne Memorial Scholarship: Jonathon and Omar
  • The Ticket to Dream Foundation Scholarship: Rebeca and Romello
  • The Greg Suhr Scholarship: Tyasia

In addition to honoring the youth scholars, the event also featured speaker Timothy Walker, who serves on the California Racial and Identity Profiling Advisory Board while pursuing his degree in Political Science at San Francisco State University. The ceremony ended with a beautiful musical performance by the Rainbow Girls.

City Youth Now also brought visual storyteller Michelle Brown along to create a visual representation of the ceremony. Her creation conveys the experiences and sentiments expressed by our scholarship winners upon award receipt.

Thank you so much to everyone who applied. We wish all our applicants the best of luck in their endeavors moving forward!
